About the artist:

SVETLANA SHIGROFF (b Adelaide, South Australia) is a designer, educator and visual artist working in wall installation and sculpture. The use of textiles and post industrial waste play heavily in her highly saturated, process focused work. Svetlana has been living in California for 12 years during which time she has diversified into costume design and creative production development with artists such as Empire of The Sun, PNAU, Grouplove and Kimbra; touring wardrobe management for international stage productions; apparel design and production for private label and her own apparel line Scraps By Sveta; and art instruction and syllabus development at Palm Springs Art Museum, The Holland Project, Santa Monica College (SMC), Remainders Creative Reuse and her own private studio in Yucca Valley, CA. Svetlana works as an adjunct Professor at Santa Monica College within the Fashion and Photography Department, is on the board of directors for the nonprofit Shafranski Art Foundation and an advisory board member for the Fashion Design and Merchandising Department at SMC. In 2018 Svetlana participated in FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art with Heironymus Gallery/Superchief Gallery and District 13 - International Art Fair, Paris with Hellion Gallery. In 2022 she exhibited work in the Californian Biennial at the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA). Svetlana has exhibited across the United States in galleries such as Angels Gate Cultural Center, Arch Enemy Arts, Field Projects, Superchief Gallery and Tlaloc Studios. www.svetlanashigroff.com
