BLAQ SHEEP

7.22 BLAQ SHEEP is a celebration and uplifting of black artists that are telling their stories in untraditional ways. Highlighting black creativity that isn’t necessarily social-political or centered around cultural symbolism. There is nothing wrong with those types of work, as a Liberian artist myself I have the utmost respect for art that can tell the stories and history of black people. However, it has become the accepted/commercial form of black creativity that is mass consumed by white and black audiences alike. We have so much color and uniqueness to us and I want to give black artists that tell their stories through unique means a platform to show their work and in turn show the audience just how expansive “black art” truly is. - Luz
